Welcome to

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to the 2025–2026 season!
You might be wondering—what is u3a? Quite simply, we’re a friendly community of people who enjoy taking part in a wide range of activities offered by our many interest groups. Whether learning something new, sharing knowledge, or simply enjoying life, our members love to socialise and connect.
We offer groups for those who enjoy physical activities, such as walking and tennis; others for intellectual discussion, including book clubs and philosophy; and groups that celebrate creativity, like painting and sewing. We even have a motorcycling adventure group! Take a look at our list of interest groups—there truly is something for everyone. Our motto says it all: Learn, Laugh, Live!
We are an organisation for those living in and around Madeley who are no longer in full time employment and wish to learn, share knowledge, socialise or just have fun.
Madeley & District u3a is an independent charity run entirely by volunteers. We’re affiliated with the Third Age Trust, which supports over a quarter of a million members across the UK. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who generously donates their time and energy to make our group so special.
Your committee is committed to delivering an exceptional experience for all members. Our Group Coordinators ensure activities are friendly and safe, and with the support of many other volunteers, we truly are a fantastic team.
There’s something for everyone at u3a—so, what will you do today?
Best wishes,
Roy Gadsden, Chair
